It is with heavy heart . . .
I take pen in hand to inform you of the passing of Mary Patterson on Friday June 18, 2010.
Mary loved her postcards, trade cards and Victorian scrap. Her passing will leave a big hole in our postcard family both here in the Northwest and around the world. Mary did shows in New York City for years and traveled to England many times to shop the postcard shows there and buy for her loyal customers here. We will all miss her postcard knowledge, collecting enthusiasm, and feisty nature.
Mary’s husband Walt and their sons plan to begin offering Mary’s cards for sale at about 50% discount at the Kent Postcard Show this weekend. Mary would have approved of offering her cards to the local collectors and dealers first and keeping her postcards and paper goods in the Northwest in the hands of her postcard friends.
Also, at the Kent Show there will be a memorial table for Mary which will include some photos of her, a sign-in book where people can comment on how Mary touched their lives, helped build their collections, etc., and a container for donations to the American Cancer Society in Mary’s memory.
