BOYS TO FACE FIRE CHARGE
The Vancouver Sun ~ October 3, 1968
Police said Wednesday five 14-year old boys will be charged with delinquency by starting a fire that caused an estimated $300,000 damage at Playland last month (see pictures below).
The fire on the night of Sept. 9 destroyed a section of the Giant Dipper roller coaster and razed 15 concession stands at the amusement park on the Pacific National Exhibition grounds.
Police allege the fire started when the five boys ignited some packing material at the back of an unlocked concession stand and got out of control before the boys could stamp it out.
