Gold Medal Dance Test

Judges - of the 5, 2 were required to be from another region.
Rink - the oldest continuously operating in the USA;
        skating surface approx 180 ft/wide x 210 ft/long
Test - at that time a partner was required and test took approx 30 min
        This gentleman would skate several ladies.
Partner: John Gustafson - 1st amateur skater to pass all 5 Gold Medals
        (American Dance, International Dance, Figures, Speed, Freestyle).
Video - was taken by the man who made parts for original spacecraft.
Lady test skater - later married Robert Bollinger
        (former owner of The Oaks and benefactor of Oaks Park Assn)
 

Music Trivia:
“2 Hearts in 3 Quarter Time” (dances 1 & 6) was played by Fred Bergin who founded Rinx Skating Music. When the first dance committee was formed in 1939, the RSROA tasked him with adapting music for the roller dances;

The Paso Doble was skated to Don Simmons’ recording. Don played at the Oaks as well as for National Competition in the late 1960's (declining to return) yet continued playing for the NW Regional Competitions through 1984.
